Using Biblical Teachings to Teach
Critical Thinking and Develop Creativity! |
|
Mrs. Kelly's 3rd grade students were allowed to choose any story from the life of Jesus, write about it, and make a shoebox diorama to visualize the story and its teachings. This assignment provided a creative way for the students to develop their critical thinking skills and better understand Jesus' life and teachings, while using their individual interpretations to visualize His ministry on Earth |
8th Grade Montage Assignment
Creativity and Introspection at Work!
|
Ms. Birch's 8th grade classes created montages of their lives last week. The students were instructed to use their own image and images of things, persons, objects, words, etc. that are in some way significant to them. The goal was to reveal something about who they are and what they care about in the areas of student, family, and community life. This assignment provided a great avenue for students to exhibit some creativity while allowing them to think critically about what is most important to them as individuals!

3rd Graders Receive
|

Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Polhemus' 3rd grade classes received their own personalized dictionaries on Thursday. Mr. Richard Cazzell from Rotary Club came to speak to the students and give each of them a dictionary with their name written inside. Our students will use the dictionaries to practice their English mechanics. Before Mr. Cazzell left, the students were already reading through and discovering what all they can find in their dictionaries.

In the photo above, Mr. Cazzell shares his own experiences about when he was in school as the students listened attentively.

4th Grade students and teachers at Union Elementary put together a Presidential Tea Party, filling an evening with memories for a lifetime. Launching the evening with Presidential Hall of Fame Tours through the Presidential Museum, guests experienced a variety of presentation mediums. A Wax Museum of Presidents and First Ladies came to life to share their historical significance with the press of a button for the evening's guests, Presidential fact QR codes could be scanned with smart phones, life size and accurately measured artworks were displayed of student's chosen Presidents and First Ladies, research reports, creative stories based in fact from the Presidents' and First Ladies' perspectives, and fact handouts gave the evening a fun filled, intellectual night chalked full of depth and complexity. Concluding the evening, students and parents played Presidential facts related games, and this video was used for one such game.
